Exposure Exhibition He Kanohi Kitea

Brand identity and campaign design for Massey University's graduate exhibition.

Deliverables

  • Brand identity
  • Advertising campaign
  • Physical wayfinding
  • Social media collateral

Exposure is Massey University's annual exhibition for undergraduate and postgraduate students to showcase their work. Not only is it for family and friends, but it also plays an important role in facilitating industry recognition and attracting prospective students. Through the brand design, we needed to represent a wide range of students from a variety of creative disciplines.

Early explorations of the Exposure identity: poster layouts, colour studies and a hand-drawn 2021 loop.

Collaboration with a group of 4th-year students from each degree helped to pin down a direction which they felt best represented them. The first round of feedback saw translate visual moodboards into three different design directions, before coming back together to present concepts for each.

An Exposure poster: the model in a lace hood beneath a stack of white ovals, with the dates 06–19 Nov and Wallace Street, Wellington.
An off-white Exposure poster with photos of visitors, musicians and virtual reality at the exhibition.

“Industry can sometimes feel like a contrast of light and dark. The light being the excitement and anticipation to finally get there, and the dark being the unknown.”

It may feel like there are several hoops to jump through but in reality these circles represent your way in, encouraging students to jump into the unknown.
